我國是一個農(nóng)業(yè)和養(yǎng)殖業(yè)大國，隨著現(xiàn)在的養(yǎng)殖規(guī)模越來越大，很多大型養(yǎng)殖廠開始把產(chǎn)生的沼氣充分利用起來，把沼氣收集起來經(jīng)過養(yǎng)殖沼氣脫硫，脫硫后用燃氣發(fā)電機組進行發(fā)電或直接用燃燒用于炊事、供曖；沼渣則是很好的有機肥料；這樣即得到了能源，又降低了溫室氣體對大氣的污染，較大的好處是節(jié)能減排、創(chuàng)造新能源，把農(nóng)業(yè)廢棄物的收集處理及“熱、電、肥和溫室氣體減排”四聯(lián)產(chǎn)綜合利用模式形成循環(huán)生態(tài)，實現(xiàn)能源與環(huán)境的雙重收益。

養(yǎng)殖場的動物糞便、飼料殘渣、污水等各種有機物在密閉的沼氣池中進行厭氧發(fā)酵，可產(chǎn)生沼氣；養(yǎng)殖沼氣與其他方式生成的沼氣一樣，其主要成分是甲烷（CH4），還含有二氧化碳、硫化氫、水蒸汽及固體顆粒物等雜質(zhì)。沼氣產(chǎn)出時會攜帶的硫化氫與氧結(jié)合燃燒后生成二氧化硫，會對大氣環(huán)境造成污染，并且影響人體健康。因此，在使用沼氣之前，必須脫除其中的硫化氫。
